Nextren.com - Jika di hape kalian ada salah satu dari daftar 470 aplikasi berbahaya ini, sebaiknya segera dihapus.
Karena baru saja menghapus 470 aplikasi nakal dari Google Play Store yang ketahuan menyedot pulsa pengguna.
Lewat malware 'Dark Herring', ratusan aplikasi tersebut disebut menyusup ke 100 juta pengguna di seluruh dunia dengan kerugian ditaksir hingga ratusan juta dolar.
Tim peneliti perusahaan keamanan siber Zimperium zLabs yang menemukan Malware Dark Herring ini, yang ternyata sudah mulai beredar sejak dua tahun yang lalu.
Malware ini diperkirakan sukses mencuri USD 15 per bulan dari tiap korbannya.
Dari 407 aplikasi itu, kategorinya beragam, seperti aplikasi produktivitas, game, edit foto, dan sebagainya.
Hal yang membuat terlena pengguna, ternyata aplikasi tersebut benar-benar berfungsi.
Bagaimana cara Malware Dark Herring mengelabui pengecekan malware oleh Google Play?
Ternyata aplikasi yang disusupi tersebut tidak berisi kode berbahaya, dan itulah yang membuatnya lolos dari pemeriksaan Google Play.
Awalnya aplikasi yang diinstall itu otomatis akan download skrip tambahan sebagai penentu bahasa di hape dan lokasi pemakainya.

Lalu sistem malware mengirimnya ke server untuk menentukan akan ditipu atau tidak.
Nah jika terpilih untuk ditipu, maka aplikasi akan memuat website berbahaya dengan bahasa sesuai dengan negara pengguna. Lalu pengguna diminta memasukkan nomor teleponnya untuk keperluan 'verifikasi'.
Namun, tanpa sepengetahuan korban, mereka nomor telepon yang disebut untuk verifikasi itu malah diserahkan ke layanan premium. (berbayar)
Menurut Zimperium, korban tidak akan segera menyadari dampak pencurian.
Lalu mungkin penagihan akan berlanjut selama berbulan-bulan sebelum disadari.
Nah dari situlah kerugian akan muncul karena pulsa tersedot secara otomatis.
Malware ini tentu merugikan kamu yang nomor prabayar dengan pulsa saldo pulsa banyak atau nomor pascabayar.
Korban malware Dark Herring ini ternyata ada di puluhan negara, termasuk Indonesia.
